“Not another card swapping business networking event”

Most people think building a network is to go to networking events. But, if you don’t have the right strategy and knowhow to build relationships through conversation and connection, then the value of networking will be wasted.

Networking is not for everyone. But you must admit, connection is a core human need, and, deep down you already know that if you can build the right relationships your business will take off. Networking can offer more than the next transaction when you embrace conversations and connections and are open to sharing and contributing knowledge and experience. No longer should you be just swapping cards and listening to speakers.

Our founder, Kerryn Powell, started YTM in 2013.

Being a small business owner herself, she wanted to build a trusted and diverse network, and also tap into the knowledge and experience of others who also were on a similar path and had experience to share. She had looked for events where she could have good conversations, make connections and expand her knowledge, but had often found events were card swapping feasts or transactional., and she often felt like she had a dollar sign tattooed on her forehead.

She knew that there were others who felt the same way.

So, as a past teacher, keen learner, and having worked with large groups, built communities and managed events, she created YTM .

No one can ever know everything, but with the right connections, ability to identify what you need and knowing how to ask the right questions business professionals could save, time and money by tapping into resources right under their nose and be able to make better decisions. Kerryn had a large network and knew how to facilitate learning.

Staying relevant is crucial

Today our YTM members share many similar experiences, often having transitioned from employee to establishing their own professional services businesses. They acknowledge they often experience overwhelm and sometimes underconfidence in this move, having never been responsible for business operations and development, and yet their technical skills are valuable in supporting others with their goals and create a firm foundation on which to establish a business and build trusted relationships with other suppliers, clients, referrers and new friends.

Our business name is perfect- Your Time Matters. By integrating learning, and networking together in one community , you are making the most of your precious time and are able to stay up-to-date with industry trends and while also connecting with opportunities , and finding the support you need from others experiencing similar challenges. Too often you just do not know, what you do not know!
