Just Peoples

The Inaugural YTM Ripple Grant was awarded in 2021 to Just Peoples to enable local project leader, Elizabeth (Liz) , a physiotherapist for nearly 20 years in Kenya, to deliver her program and provide free support to Maasai families who have a child living with a disability.

Maasai mothers and fathers believe that having a child born with a disability is a curse on the family. After finding it too difficult to turn away children living with disabilities who were unable to pay her fees, Liz committed to a program offering support and treatment, so all kids can live fulfilling lives. She trains parents on how they can meet their children’s specific needs and works with entire communities to help shift the current stigma facing children living with disabilities so they can thrive and participate in wider society.

Liz shares the outcome of the 3 day camp she ran as a result of funding through Just Peoples, supported by YTM Ripple , and her plans for the coming year in Kerryn’s podcast.
