2025 WHY INSIGHT AWARDS- “Why I started, why I stopped”

Five speakers stepped out of their comfort zones and competed in the 8th Annual Your Time Matters (Australia) WHY Insight Awards. They had powerful stories and insights to share based on the theme WHY I STARTED- WHY I STOPPED , and they were ready to take up their own personal challenge.

On behalf of all who attended, I would like to thank Rebecca Carroll-Bell AAICD LLB (Hons), B.Sci (Psych) , Simon James, Robert Moorman, Vicky McKay and Alyson Wavish for sharing their individual stories illustrating the rollercoaster of life through their own lens, and how both personally and professionally life, throws us curve balls and makes us , pause and step up.

Woven into the stories, were examples of:
* the pressure of expectation - self enforced, or enforced by others,
* the challenges and benefits of changing direction
* personal anecdotes that connected and entertained the audience.
* feeling stuck, held back by what others may think
* pushing and hustling in ways that do not align with individual drivers
...and the reality, that underneath we are all vulnerable, and not alone in feeling the pressures, we self impose.

Our judges Karen Garton, Dr Jing Ye and our special guest, Neil Milton had had their work cut out for them and by a very slim margin the winner of the YTM 2025 Why Award was Simon James, who also took out the Peoples Choice. (The difficult thing when you win and are also the photographer, you are not in many pictures!... sorry Simon)

The impact of the evening confirmed what I believe - your time matters.

We are all human. We cannot control everything in life. No matter how hard we try, there are challenges, and all of us are on a journey and need to adjust, whether we like it or not. The relationships we build, and the contributions we make, in simple, and varied ways, have the power to create an impact and a ripple.
